Sunday the Disney Marathon took place leaving Fredison Carneiro of Brazil the winner!
The thirty-three-year-old, Fredison Carniero, finished the 26.2-mile marathon in 2 hours, 21 minutes and 14 seconds that ended the winning streak of Adriano Bastos, a seven-time winner, who placed 15th.
Nabbing second place was a Virginia native, Michael Wardian who clocked in at 2:27:39 and an Orlando native, Paul Nielsen, grabbed third with 2:31:44.
The women’s race left Leah Thorvilson of Little Rock, Ark. winner. The former qualifier in the U.S. Olympic Trials finished in 2:42:10. Second place? Finally a New York native, Karen Simmonds-Brady with 2:51:14!
