Holly Madison Insures Her Breasts For $1 Million

Holly Madison is protecting her most valuable assets. The Playboy bunny insured her breasts for $1 million with Lloyd’s of London.
People Magazine reports that Madison took out her new boob insurance policy to protect herself and the people that perform with her in the Las Vegas production, “Peep Show.” Madison told People Magazine:
“”I’ve heard about people getting body parts insured and I thought, why not? If anything happened to my boobs, I’d be out for a few months and I’d probably be out a million dollars. I thought I’d cover my assets.”
Madison’s breasts have made her a lot of money. It seems only right that she is returning the favor.
Madison said:
“I think it’s kind of funny. I think they’re getting the credit they deserve. They’re my primary money makers right now.”
Here’s a picture of Holly Madison and her valuable breasts, you know, in case you were wondering what exactly this article was about.

Madison, who is currently appearing in Las Vegas (occasionally topless)  for the “Striptease Spectacular” Peep Show, first gained fame when she stayed at the Playboy Mansion during “The Girl’s Next Door.” Madison was also a tabloid favorite when she dated Hugh Hefner in 2008.
The International Business Times reports that in 2001 Holly Madison had breast implants that brought her from an A-cup to a D-cup. And it looks like that investment has paid off.
Madison isn’t the only person to take out an insurance policy on something a little… different. Troy Polamalu insured his hair for a million dollars last year. Lloyd’s of London has also insured Michael Flatley of River Dance’s feet, Kieth Richard’s fingers, and Celine Dion’s vocal chords.
What do you think of Holly Madison’s investment? Are Holly Madison’s breasts so spectacular that they warrant their own insurance policy?

NASA Satellite Fell Near Christmas Island

This screen grab image provided by NASA shows UARS attached to the robotic arm of the space shuttle Discovery during mission STS-48 in 1991, when UARS was deployed. NASA scientists are doing their best to tell us where a plummeting 6-ton satellite will fall later this week. It's just that if they're off a little bit, it could mean the difference between hitting Florida or New York. Or, say, Iran or India. (AP Photo/NASA)

The defunct six-ton satellite that fell over the Pacific Ocean around midnight Saturday didn’t destroy any homes or break any limbs. Scientists now have an idea of where the debris from the satellite landed, and it’s in a very remote place.
The satellite reportedly plunged 300 miles to the northeast, southwest of Christmas Island, far from any major land mass, NASA said.
“It’s a relatively uninhabited portion of the world, very remote,” NASA orbital debris scientist Mark Matney said, according to the Associated Press. “This is certainly a good spot in terms of risk.”
The Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite broke into pieces during reentry and most of it burned in the atmosphere, the agency said. Twenty-six satellite components, weighing about 1,200 pounds could have survived the reentry.
“This was not an easy re-entry to predict because of the natural forces acting on the satellite as its orbit decayed,” said Nick Johnson, NASA’s chief scientist for orbital debris, at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. “Space-faring nations around the world also were monitoring the satellite’s descent.”
On Saturday, NASA said it was possible that debris could have hit Northwest Canada, and there were reports of people claiming sightings on the Internet. But UARS landed earlier then expected, completely changing where the debris landed.
As NASA was tracking the path of the lazily falling satellite, the agency maintained that the risk to public safety and property was extremely small.
The 20-year-old satellite was launched on September 12, 1991 and deployed three days later. It was brought into orbit to collect measurements of ozone and other chemicals in the atmosphere. The mission ended in 2005. Since then the satellite, which measured at 35-feet-long and 15-feet in diameter, was slowly losing altitude as it was being pulled back by Earth’s gravity.
The last time a spacecraft as large as UARS fell back into Earth uncontrolled was when Skylab fell in western Australia in 1979.

Facebook to Launch iPad App at Apple’s iPhone 5 Event [EXCLUSIVE]

Facebook will launch its long-awaited iPad app at Apple’s iPhone 5 launch event on Oct. 4, Mashable has learned. In addition to the iPad app, Facebook is also expected to release a revamped version of its iPhone app and may unveil an HTML5-based mobile app marketplace.
The Facebook iPad app, which leaked earlier this year, has been in limbo at Facebook for the past few months. That much was made clear in a blog post Monday by former Facebook engineer Jeff Verkoeyen. In that post, he revealed that he left the company (for Google) partially because Facebook has been sitting on the completed app since May.
The problem, according to two sources familiar with the situation, has been a combination of timing and a strained relationship with Apple. It’s no secret that the two companies have been at odds over various issues during the past two years. For example, the social network pulled the plug on Facebook Connect in Ping because Apple didn’t give Facebook any warning about the feature, which would have eaten a great deal of bandwidth on Facebook’s side.
We’ve also heard rumors that Facebook was supposed to be integrated into iOS. This was meant to happen years ago, but disagreements on both sides eventually led to Apple integrating Twitter into iOS 5.
The relationship between the two technology giants is warming up, however, thanks to the shared goal of beating Google — and the simple fact that Facebook and Apple may need each other. The former doesn’t have a mobile platform while Apple doesn’t have a social platform. The culmination of this renewed friendship: the launch of Facebook for iPad at Apple’s iPhone 5 media event.
At this event, our sources also expect Facebook to unveil a new version of Facebook for the iPhone, with design and speed improvements that mimic the iPad app.
Facebook has also been working on a project to bring the Facebook Platform to mobile devices. The project, labeled “Project Spartan” by some (a name not used internally at Facebook, according to one of our sources), is designed to be a platform where developers can bring their Facebook apps to mobile devices via an HTML5 platform.
What we’re hearing is that Apple is actually working with Facebook on perfecting the HTML5 platform. This could also launch at Apple’s upcoming iPhone event, though our sources wouldn’t commit to a specific launch date for the platform. Facebook decided not to launch it at f8, as it didn’t want to water down the announcement of the new Facebook Open Graph and Timeline.
When we said last week that Facebook would be profoundly changed, we weren’t just referring to the new Facebook Open Graph and the “frictionless sharing” touted by Mark Zuckerberg. We were also talking about its secretive effort to become a mobile platform for the social web. And thanks to Apple, it looks like that effort is about to come to fruition.

Happy 13th Birthday Google celebrates with new doodle

Search engine enjoys birthday treat

Google has used the latest Google doodle to celebrate its 13th birthday with a picture of the logo enjoying a cake.
Unlike the usual fanfare and excitement afforded to some of the doodles of recent times, like the one that celebrated Freddie Mercury's birthday complete with moving animations or videos, Google has gone for a very simple approach with a very basic design.
Stranger still, it seems, Google has only included 12 candles on the cake rather than 13 to represent the 13 years in business.
That might be the case, however this year's effort is still in keeping with previous birthday Google doodles that have become a tradition since the first birthday doodle appeared in 2003.
In what has never been fully explained the Google doodle birthday doodles in 2003 and 2004 appeared on the 7 September before moving to the 27 September where they have appeared ever since.
As the doodles of the last eight years show Google doesn't always get a cake. Its ninth birthday was celebrated with a piƱata, and its eleventh birthday an extra 11 to give the 11 in the logo.

ABC’s ‘Pan Am’ maiden voyage attracts 11 million viewers

“Pam Am” premiered to 11 million viewers. (Patrick Harbron - ABC)
About 11 million people on Sunday checked out the premiere of new 60’s-set drama “Pan Am” – ABC’s tony, dripping with verisimilitude answer to AMC’s “Mad Men.”
That’s more than double the 5 million who’d caught the premiere of tony, new 60’s set drama “Playboy Club” – NBC’s dripping with verisimilitude answer to “Mad Men” on Monday of Premiere Week.
On the other hand, “Pan Am” had enjoyed a compatible lead-in — in ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” season debut, which delivered about 10 million viewers.’
“Playboy,” meanwhile, had had to struggle with a “Sing-Off” reality series lead-in that only handed it about 5 million viewers. Yes, lead-in shows still matter.
“Pan Am” attracted about 1.4 million more viewers than had the season debut of “Brothers & Sisters” in the same one-hour time period last fall.
You may have noticed that “Pan Am” actually attracted about a million more viewers than its own “Desperate Housewives” leadin.
“Pan Am” is the first show to built on a “Desperate” lead-in since one of those sky-falling-in “Grey’s Anatomy” season finales did the trick, way back in May of ’06.
“Housewives” logged about 3 million fewer viewers than its season start last fall. That, despite the fact ABC had officially announced “last call” on “Housewives” a couple months ago, in hopes former fans would come scurrying back for what is officially announced as the final season.
A good part of “DH’s” decline was no doubt caused by CBS having moved it’s popular chick drama “Good Wife” from Tuesdays at 10, to Sundays at 9 this fall.
Preliminary Sunday ratings for CBS may change substantially because of a 30-minute football overrun earlier that night. But it appears about 10.5 million caught the season start of “The Good Wife,” edging out “Housewives” in tonnage.
“Housewives” clung to the title of Sunday night’s most popular non-football program among women in the 18-49 year-old-age bracket – the bread-and-butter of the broadcast TV industry. “The Good Wife” appears to have been the champ among women aged 50 years and older.
CBS moved “The Good Wife” this season because it had fumbled so much of the male audience the network was copping early on Tuesdays with its two “NCIS” dramas. It appears guys will not watch an acclaimed drama series with the word “Wife” in the title, if it stars a chick (Julianna Margulies) and is about something other than violent crime.
(CBS’s new series Wednesday at 10 drama, “Unforgettable,” also stars a chick — Poppy Montgomery in this case — but it’s a crime/cop show; sadly, we rest our case.)
Final numbers for Sunday night will not be available until Tuesday morning.

Bastrop Texas 'Monster' Fire Is Scariest Natural Disaster Yet

The country has recently sustained an "earthquake," a major hurricane, and because everything happens in threes, this month comes the Bastrop County Complex Fire in Central Texas. Texas has been ravaged by brush fires across the state lately. This recent fire is so big, erratic, and fast-moving that they are actually putting the word "complex" into its official name. The fire has already destroyed 25,000 acres and about 1,000 homes. But those figures are probably already out of date as this is typed. The blaze is consuming about one home every four minutes!
Governor Rick Perry actually had to leave the GOP campaign trail to get back home and try to wrangle aid and manpower to deal with this, but I'm not sure he -- or anyone -- really can, save Mother Nature and one hell of a rainstorm. Makes you almost wish Hurricane Katia would change course westward.
People are calling this the most destructive brush fire on record in Texas, and I believe them based on these 5 scary characteristics of the blaze alone:
1. No one knows how it started. It could have been a match in the woods, a wood fire spark blown away, a car fire on the highway. Texas is facing the worst yearlong draught on record, and this fire goes to show how easy it is for the littlest thing to spark another fire elsewhere.
2. It's spreading like mad. Numerous smaller fires have sprouted up and are spreading all over the place, pushed by strong winds and fed by dry grass, shrubs, and trees. It's currently moving south and expanding.
3. It can jump rivers. It jumped the Colorado River in two spots. Apparently this super fire is resistant to water, or is just so big that its tentacles can stretch over large bodies of water.
4. It's zero percent contained. ZERO. None of it is contained. Which means the state needs to get way more crews out there fighting it than they have already. Not an easy task when the entire state is smoking.
5. Fire officials are stumped on how to fight it. They don't know where it started, they don't know where the "eipicenter" is, they don't know where it ends. One official was quoted saying: “We will be working days on end. The fire is so dynamic we really have no idea where it is.”
Do you live in Texas, or in an area experiencing one of these terrible brush fires? What's happening where you are?
