Iconic R&B singers Anita Baker and Ronald Isley were honored Sunday night at the 2010 Soul Train Awards on BET.
The show paid tribute to their unparalleled contribution to soul music and also handed out awards to other R&B performers that have made a mark this year.
After the show, Isley, co-founding member and lead singer of the family group The Isley Brothers, wrote on his Twitter account, “Thanks to all my fans for supporting me for so many years. I am so appreciative!”
Baker’s tribute consisted of an all-star cast that did a medley of her greatest hits. The singers who performed included Tamia, Dionne Farris, Faith Evans, El DeBarge, Lalah Hathaway, Chrisette Michele, Ken, and Goapele. Baker exclaimed, “It’s amazing because you’ve got children behind you singing ‘Rapture’ – and it’s lovely. Let’s do it again!”
The evening was graced by several other musicians, including Bruno Mars, Erykah Badu, Cee Lo, and Jazmine Sullivan.
