Veterans Day 2010

Veterans Day 2010, A patriotic ceremony honoring America’s military members and Veterans is scheduled for Thursday, November 11, 2010, at eleven a.m., in Arlington National Cemetery. A wreath-laying ceremony will take place in the Tomb of the Unknowns, followed by a ceremony contained in the Memorial Amphitheater, adjacent to the Tomb. The celebration will commence with a prelude concert by “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band at 10:30 a.m., inside the amphitheater.
This year’s event will be hosted by Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki; Colonel Roger Dimsdale, U.S. Army, Retired, National Commander from the Legion of Valor of the USA; and Major General Karl R. Horst, Commander with the U.S. Army Military District of Washington as well as the Joint Force Headquarters–National Capital Region.
Both ceremonies are totally free and open to the public. No tickets are required to attend these events. The events conclude at noon. At 8 a.m., the cemetery gates open along with a free of charge shuttle service will begin transporting visitors from the Arlington National Cemetery visitor center towards the Tomb/amphitheater.
